Hello… it’s me. I was wondering if after all this time you’d like to read?
Yes? Cheesy Adele puns aside, I’m aware that it’s been a very long time since I hit that publish button and shared a new post. However, it’s all for a very good reason. In early October, we welcomed our beautiful daughter Harper into the world, and since then pretty much everything has been about her (and rightly so).
I’m naturally very organised. My first week of Maternity Leave was spent writing and scheduling blog content that would keep me going until the end of October. I spent all of my pregnancy assuming that Harper would arrive on her due-date and making plans based on that. I was told by so many people that the chances were near-impossible, but we both proved them wrong, she arrived bang on schedule! Since then, life has not been quite so well organised.
Motherhood has been an incredible experience, albeit tough at times. From the very first night, it became apparent that my daughter loved to sleep, but only if being cuddled. The first few weeks were spent alternating with my husband so that we could both get at least a little shut-eye. Since then, things have improved a lot. Touch wood, we have a gorgeous girl who sleeps independently at night but the day times are still proving tricky. My initial plans of being able to blog during nap time feel a long way off, but that’s ok! I can’t really complain that I get lots of cuddles during the day, and after all, she’ll only be this little for such a short amount of time.
So, what does this mean for the blog? If I’m honest, I’ve gone through lots of different scenarios over the past three months, including taking a more permanent break. However, I figure that I’ve put in too much work to give up just yet. This year I’ve posted frequently, had the chance to work with some amazing companies, and I launched my line of prints. I’ve also made genuine friends through blogging. So for now, I’m going to keep going, but it won’t quite be back to business as usual for a while, as I continue to focus most of my energy on my family.
I’ve already got a list of posts I want to create and share with you all, and inevitably some of those will touch on motherhood. I’m not planning to make my blog solely parent-focused, but it’s natural that it will feature sometimes, and there are subjects that I feel very passionate about and thus want to write about. I’d really be interested in hearing what you would like to see from the blog next year, drop me a line or leave a comment below with any ideas.
Thank you to everyone for all of your support throughout 2017. Every single page view, like, and comment means the world to me, and I really do appreciate it. I’ll be back soon, but in the meantime I wish you all a very happy new year.
